WORDPLAY

Wednesday, June 28, July 12, 19 & 26 | 3:00-4:00 p.m. | Rising Grades 8th-12th | In-Person

Taught by Judith Antelman, poet, writer, and editor, Creative Writing MFA (2021), poetry collection The Pugilist’s Daughter (April 2022, Blue Jade Press, LLC).

Poems appear in surprising ways. They greet us in cities, at the beach, in our homes, anywhere and everywhere. We will explore different ways poetry finds us, as we write words to create verse. At the start of each class, we will read poems from various poets, to inspire our Word Play. We will then discuss the poems—what students liked or did not like. There will be time to create your own poems in class, individually and as a group. Each week, I will ask that you write an original poem to read in the next class. I will always provide ideas for you. Let’s gather and create endlessly—as a group and on our own. All you need is a pen/pencil and paper.
