2023 Festival

The seventh annual Succeed2gether’s Montclair Literary Festival was held between May 3 and 11, 2023. Events included Montclair State University and Montclair high schools student readings, workshops, and a range of author talks and panel discussions. Featured authors included Chita Rivera, Warren Zanes, Deb Perelman, Anne Berest, Joyce Maynard, Matthew Salesses, Kwame Alexander, Margo Jefferson, Mary Louise Kelly, Tyriek White, Mary Beth Keane, Andrea Elliott, Jeff Sharlat, Jenny Jackson, and Jake Bittle alongside children’s favorites Tracey Baptiste, Alliah L. Agostini, and Soman Chainani.

The guide to our scheduled festival can be found here. Recordings of selected events can be found on our YouTube channel here.

In September, the Festival hosted a sell-out crowd to hear from two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Colson Whitehead, discuss Crook Manifesto, the next installment to his Harlem series, and then in mid-November former UK Poet Laureate and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Tracy K Smith spoke about her lyrical memoir To Free the Captives: A Plea for the American Soul. In late November, the festival also partner with the Glen Ridge Book Club to present best-selling author Nita Prose.

We are grateful to all our authors who appear for free at all our events. The best way to support them is by buying their book. Details of all participating authors are here.
