Online Book Talk: Bill Buford “Dirt” with Ruth Reichl

July 22, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Join us for an entertaining and gastronomic evening with former editor of Granta magazine and writer and editor for The New Yorker Bill Buford talking about his latest book Dirt with bestselling author, food editor and restaurant critic, and former editor-in-chief of Gourmet magazine Ruth Reichl.

Dirt is a hilariously self-deprecating, highly obsessive account of Bill’s adventures in the world of French haute cuisine; a great read for anyone who has found joy in cooking and eating food with their family.

This FREE event is part of Succeed2gether’s Montclair Literary Festival at Home series. Register here.

You can buy Dirt from Festival partner Watchung Booksellers here. In-store shopping, shipping and contactless pick-up available.

He is also the author of Among the Thugs (Norton, 1992). He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, grew up in California, and was educated at UC Berkeley and Kings College, Cambridge, where he was awarded a Marshall Scholarship for his work on Shakespeare’s plays and sonnets.

She was editor in chief of Gourmet magazine for ten years. Previously she was the restaurant critic for The New York Times and served as the food editor and restaurant critic for the Los Angeles Times. Succeed2gether’s fourth annual Montclair Literary Festival was scheduled for March 25 to 29, 2020. Due to the current health crisis, Festival Day is now planned for Saturday September 12, 2020.

The festival is a fundraiser for Montclair-based non-profit Succeed2gether, which offers after-school one-on-one tutoring and enrichment classes with the aim of closing the education opportunity gap in Essex County. You can read more about Succeed2gether and the festival at www.succeed2gether.org.

The festival organizing committee wishes to thank event partners Succeed2gether staff, First Congregational Church, and Watchung Booksellers, and festival sponsors Rao’s, Montclair State University, West of Hudson Realty Group, Montclair Public Library, and community members.
