Usually tutoring helps not just the tutee but also the tutor. That has been true with this young book buddy, who spoke about his Succeed2gether experience at the Montclair Literary Festival in March.

I am a sixth-grade student at Renaissance Middle School at Rand in Montclair. I have been tutoring with Succeed2gether since September. My student is in kindergarten, and every week I help him with his homework and read to him.
I really like helping M. It’s special to me, because I can still remember when I was a kindergartener, just like him, doing my homework. And I have noticed a big change in M. since the beginning of the year, especially with his reading skills and handwriting, and with the overall quality of his work. I really, really hope I have helped him.
When you think of a tutoring program, you might think that only the student will benefit, but that is not true at all. Succeed2gether has made a huge difference to my life since I have started. I love to read and I love to help people. Succeed2gether has combined my love for both things into one.
I am also a Boy Scout, and one of the requirements to rank up is community service. I explained to my scoutmaster about Succeed2gether, and he signed off on the requirement.
I think that Succeed2gether is good for students and tutors. While I can do the things that I love, my student can get better at basic skills so that when he gets to be my age, he can do the things that he loves.
