POSTPONED – An Evening with Colum McCann: Apeirogon

March 12, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

In a pre-festival event for Succeed2gether’s Montclair Literary Festival, don’t miss the chance to hear Colum McCann, National Book Award–winning and bestselling author of Let the Great World Spin, discuss his most ambitious work to date, Apeirogon, an epic novel rooted in the real-life friendship between two men united by loss. McCann will be in conversation with New York Times bestselling author Garth Risk Hallberg.

Apeirogon—named for a shape with a countably infinite number of sides—is a tour de force concerning friendship, love, loss, and belonging. McCann crafts Apeirogon out of a universe of fictional and nonfictional material. He crosses centuries and continents, stitching together time, art, history, nature, and politics in a tale both heartbreaking and hopeful. Musical, cinematic, muscular, delicate, and soaring, Apeirogon is a novel for our time.

“This beautiful, deeply felt book is first and foremost an extraordinary act of listening.”—Nathan Englander

Tickets ($30) include a copy of Apeirogon. Doors open at 6.15pm. The talk will take place from 7-8pm.

The VIP admission ($100) includes a post-event cocktail party with the author (8-9pm), priority entry and reserved seating.

Colum McCann is the internationally bestselling author of the novels TransAtlantic, Let the Great World Spin, Zoli, Dancer, This Side of Brightness, and Songdogs, as well as three critically acclaimed story collections and the nonfiction book Letters to a Young Writer. His fiction has been published in over 40 languages.

Garth Risk Hallberg’s first novel, City on Fire, was a New York Times and international bestseller, and was named one of the best books of 2015 by the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle and others. He is also the author of the novella, A Field Guide to the North American Family.

This event is a fundraiser for Montclair-based non-profit Succeed2gether, which offers after-school one-on-one tutoring and enrichment classes with the aim of closing the education opportunity gap in Essex County.

The fourth annual Montclair Literary Festival will take place March 25 to 29, 2020.
